Dvalishvili started on the combat-sports road with ancient, traditional Georgian wrestling before diversifying his talents in judo and sambo into MMA. Merab had moved to the United States in search of his fighting dreams and began training at the Serra-Longo Fight Team, a well-known gym that is responsible for producing champions like Matt Serra and Chris Weidman.
