The ATP Awards celebrate excellence in men’s professional tennis, recognizing players and coaches for their achievements throughout the season. The nominees for the 2024 ATP Awards have been announced, highlighting remarkable performances and inspiring comebacks.
The Player of the Year has gone to Jannik Sinner, who has had an incredible season. His first Slash championships came at both the Australian Open and the US Open, among many other signficant victories. He capped his year with an astonishing 73-6 record to cement his place at the top of the men’s game.
Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award of 2023
At ATP Awards,Carlos Alcaraz is nominated for the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award, which is given to players who exemplify fair play and professionalism. The Spanish tennis phenomenon has done his part to deserve this honor on and off the court.
Most Improved Player
Matteo Berrettini, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori were nominated for Comeback Player of the Year in ATP Awards. They each have overcome huge hurdles to be competitive, testament to their will and determination.
Most Improved Player of the Year
Several of the runners-up for Most Improved Player of the Year include Jack Draper and Tomas Machac. The tennis community is also taking note of their impressive progress and high-level performances.
Newcomer of the Year
Nominated for ATP Awards: Newcomer of the Year Jakub Mensik Juncheng Shang Both are making a big impact in their rookie seasons and have bright futures ahead.
Coach of the Year
The nominees are: Xavier Malisse, Emmanuel Planque, Michael Russell, Brad Stine and James Trotman; and Coach of the Year nominees These coaches have helped their players push themselves to new levels this season.
Notable Absences
The players’ choice of outstanding male player didn’t mention Jannik Sinner despite his great season. And neither were his coaches, Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill, nominated for Coach of the Year. Its absence has generated more discussion within tennis.
